IH Young Environmentalists Project - Round 3!
IH Young Environmentalists Project - Round 3!
16 Mag, 2022

To celebrate the International Day of Light, we want to highlight the IH Young Environmentalists project that took place at the start of 2022! Mariachiara, Luigina, Anna, Maria, Giulia, Denise and Annemarija, students from IH British School Reggio Calabria, IH Riga, IH Madrid and Bielsko-Biala participated in Round 3 of this event organized by International House World.

This group of high school students, interested in ecology and environmental issues, decided to focus on a topic they all agreed wasn’t talked about enough: light pollution.

For their project, this group opened their own Instagram account – lightpollution.ih – where they created and shared informative content about pollution in general, as well as how light pollution affects people’s health, animals, plants, astronomy and safety. They also gave followers tips on how to reduce light pollution.

IH Young Environmentalist Project

This type of project holds many benefits for students who participate such as:

  • Meet and make friends with students from different cultures and countries
  • Use English outside of the classroom in a meaningful manner
  • Be more aware of environmental issues and live in a more eco-conscious way
  • Learn useful IT skills, such as how to use social media and different business tools and experiment with the creation of graphics to communicate information.
  • Develop skills in teamwork, problem solving, perseverance, creativity, critical thinking and self-management.

Congratulations on a job well! Follow their Instagram page to learn more about this topic.
